Surakarta, October 15, 2024 – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta is honored to participate in the SEA-TEACHER Program Batch 10, welcoming three international students who will teach at various schools in Surakarta. The SEA-TEACHER program, initiated by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO), aims to provide teaching experience and cultural exchange opportunities for student-teachers from Southeast Asia. For this first wave, UNS is hosting three students from partner universities: Raemon Petr Garces, Jose Angelo, and Guia Isabel. These students will be in Surakarta for 29 days, from October 14 to November 9, 2024, gaining valuable teaching experience in local schools.

The three international students were warmly welcomed at a formal reception held at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of UNS. Dr. Imam Sujadi, M.Si., Dean of FKIP, along with the Vice Dean, greeted the students and shared words of encouragement. Dr. Imam expressed his excitement about the collaboration and hoped the students would not only gain teaching expertise but also immerse themselves in the rich culture of Surakarta. The reception emphasized the importance of cross-cultural understanding in today’s global education landscape.
Before beginning their teaching practice, the students will undergo an orientation program that introduces them to Indonesian culture, educational practices, and the curriculum of the schools where they will teach. During their stay, Raemon, Jose, and Guia will teach various subjects in English, working closely with local teachers to enhance the students’ learning experience. Their participation is expected to benefit both the students and the schools, fostering a unique educational exchange that highlights the value of international collaboration.
The SEA-TEACHER program not only provides a platform for students to practice teaching in a different country, but it also enhances cultural diplomacy between nations. Through their interaction with students, teachers, and the local community, the three participants will contribute to strengthening the bonds between Indonesia and their home countries. UNS looks forward to a successful collaboration and is committed to supporting the SEA-TEACHER participants throughout their stay in Surakarta.
A very good and exceptional programme for future generation of International Teachers
